Quinta dos Chainhos
Quinta dos Chainhos is a historic property located in Murtal, very close to Cascais, a charming coastal town in Portugal about 20 kilometers west of Lisbon. Murtal is often called “Aldeia das Murtas,” which translates to “village of myrtles.” The Quinta is renowned for its historical heritage, natural beauty and close connection with the Cascais region. Visitors to the Quinta can easily enjoy the beaches, restaurants, shops and leisure activities of Cascais, Estoril, Lisbon and Sintra, and return to the peace and quiet of the village of Murtal at the end of the day.
The history of Quinta dos Chainhos dates back to the 17th century, when the property was founded as an agricultural and wine growing estate. The Quinta evolved over the years and witnessed various historical events. Today, the Quinta’s domain spans across more than six hectares of gardens, orchards, vineyards, olive groves and pine forest; it also boasts a 14-by-6-meter swimming pool.
Four independent “cottages,” each with a private terrace, are at your disposal for the duration of your stay, in addition to a shared recreation room. The old stables were remodeled in the spirit of the National Palace of Sintra’s “Swan Salon,” creating a space that lends itself to organizing events for 50 to 400 people.
Quinta dos Chainhos also hosts various cultural events throughout the year, such as conferences, concerts, artistic exhibitions and private receptions.
